Mara, an accomplished painter, sculptor, and ceramicist, studied engraving under the renowned artist Alfredo Zalce. Zalce, known for his many portraits of Mara, recognized the talent in his lovely protégé. After furthering her studies in art in London, Mara delved into high-temperature ceramics, where she developed unique glazes for her pieces. She then sought additional mentorship from Italian ceramist Bruno Terese in Italy. Mara showcased her original works in numerous exhibitions across Europe, the United States, and Mexico.

Tragically, Mara passed away after battling a long illness in November 2007. However, despite her absence, Ceramica Mara, which had always been a family-run endeavor, continued production of her exquisite creations. Mara's husband Mariano, an architect, artist, and business manager for Ceramica Mara, devotedly led the day-to-day operations. Alongside him were Mara's children and loyal apprentices, ensuring the continuation of Mara's artistic legacy. Alexandra, Mara's daughter and an artist and history professor, played an integral role in facilitating the seamless transition for the business.
